Reminisce . . .
As a 1963 graduate of Westbury High School Houston, I contributed a page to a site that is devoted to various writings by students from our school during the years 1962 through 1965. My page was named Reminisce and later Tana's Reminisce and it became a popular place to visit on the web for pictures of and information on nostalgic Houston. In fact, it grew so much that I would soon be out of room for expanding the information.
So, here is its new home. And it grows more and more as time goes by.
It is now Tana's Reminisce Updated and I hope that it can continue to amuse and entertain people who have an interest in Houston during primarily, but not always limited to, the 1950's and 1960's.
I have enjoyed hearing from people from all over the world and hope to continue to do so. I have honored a man who managed a Baker's Shoe store in the early sixties, and a man who chose to go down with his plane rather than risk its going into neighborhoods full of people, and I hope to honor more people who influenced those times and my life in particular.
In those decades we had adults such as Mr. Money at Baker's Shoe Store and Mr. Taylor and Miss Campbell, both at school, who cared for and looked out for us. We, in fact, expected that and even imagined the water tower on Westbury High School's property as our Citadel, our protector when we were under siege (by the Bellaire Cardinals, of course). Many of us had come to Westbury after attending Bellaire and, therefore, saw the Cardinals as our arch-rivals.

These are 1961 pictures of that water tower that loomed over the construction of and the final outcome of Westbury High School.
Miss Mabel Gene Campbell in 1961 who taught English -- We stole her from Bellaire
Mr. Fred Taylor, Spanish Teacher, 1962 -- We stole him from Bellaire too.
So, welcome to Tana's Reminisce Updated. And if you see something you like, or have suggestions about the site, please email me at: tana@tanasreminisce.com
(I must say that I hear kind words and comments from more Bellaire High School graduates than from any other group. My comments about our rivalry are all in fun.)
